Can you suggest some blogs or tutorials to get me started using Tableau?

Look at our blog and tutorial section here or check out the Tableau learning videos they provide here. You can also find a wealth of information on the Community sites – a great way to learn and share.

Where to find inspiration to create awesome vizzes?

Tableau Public is specifically created to showcase vizzes that the community produce. You can go on here learn, adapt and explore. There are also regular reviews of visualisations forming things like #VizOfTheDay and #VizOfTheWeek. #IronViz is another great competition hosted on this site, where the winner gets a free ticket to Tableau’s World Conference.

How to become an Expert?

Practice, practice & practice. As well as doing your exams that are structured around the tool, gain as much experience in using different data sets and explore with #MakeoverMonday. Now you ask what is #MakeoverMonday? – It is a social experiment where different data sets get published each week to allow the community to share ideas, make simple bar charts or over the top infographics.

Are there training course available?

Yes absolutely! We can tailor them to your company or personal needs, and we use your local data too! Check out our training page for more information. We have delivered training to over 400 satisfied customers using this approach, and the feedback has been brilliant.

I am stuck on something with Tableau - what shall I do?

If you get stuck and can’t find the answers on Google itself, there is a huge community forum available. You can post questions via Twitter and just use the #Tableau or post on the community forum pages which you can find here.

Can you talk me through Tableau's product range?

Reader is a free desktop application that you can use to open, view and interact with visualizations that have already been created in the Desktop tool.

Desktop makes it easy to connect to your data and create your own visualizations. A range of different data sources can be connected to – a list that can be found here

Server is a tool for sharing visualizations, but instead of sending files, you publish your visualisation to Server. Anyone with permissions can view, interact and even edit in their browser

Online is just like Tableau Server, but it's hosted by Tableau in the cloud. No hardware, no setup, no maintenance.

Public is a free service that lets anyone publish interactive data visualisations to the web. Visualizations that have been published to Tableau Public (“vizzes”) can be embedded into webpages and blogs, they can be shared via social media or email, and they can be made available for download to other users.
