Button up your dashboard with Tableau’s new features

Tableau now offers users a new way to toggle between stories, dashboards and sheets. All you need is a button to help you easily navigate through your views. In this blog we’ll be using the Sample Superstore dataset to create a couple of different dashboards:
Example Dashboard 1
Example Dashboard 2
To add buttons, we simply drag the Button object from the objects pane and drop them into our dashboard.
You can further customise your buttons by also choosing an image, resizing it or adding a tooltip to help users grasp a better understanding of what they’ll do/how the view will change. Click on the button menu and select the Edit button option. Add the target sheet or dashboard that you’d like to navigate to and customise the button style by adding an icon or image as preferred (I used a simple arrow icon; once again google is your friend).
If you have multiple views on your workbook, buttons can help navigate back to 2 or more views giving your dashboards a more professional look and making your content easily discoverable. These new features are subject to change, so make sure you stay tuned with Tableau’s updates.
